The Mission and Purpose of the
Indiana Wing Honor Guard
Our mission is threefold:

1) To maintain and employ a ceremonial capability to represent the Indiana
Wing at public and official ceremonies. We accomplish this by demonstrating the overwhelming aspects of teamwork, commitment, and discipline through various public appearances and performances throughout the Wing, the community and at local schools.

2) To assist the Drug Demand Reduction Program (DDR) in fulfilling its mission by rendering support in the form of appearances, demonstrations and speaking engagements. We accomplish this by setting an example and exemplifying the highest standards of personal appearance, customs and courtesies, and military bearing. This demonstrates the heights and achievements that are attainable by today's youth through the Civil Air Patrol Cadet Program.

3) To provide Ceremonial support to the Indiana Wing in the forms of ceremonial honors for distinguished persons, change of Command ceremonies, retirement ceremonies, promotion ceremonies, parades, award ceremonies and dining in/out.

These sensitive missions require an elite team of dedicated individuals. The Cadet staff functions to ensure that all trainees meet the necessary physical conditioning requirements, uniform appearance, stamina, drill performance, and knowledge of protocol, honors, and ceremonies. The Honor Guard Training Course requires the highest military standards and discipline of all trainees to prepare them for the rare opportunity of representing all CAP members past and present. The Rifle Team serves to foster pride and confidence in our evolving Aerospace Force, inspire Air Force awareness in the military and civilian community, and encourage young men and women to serve their country. The Rifle Team embodies teamwork, professionalism, and discipline through its complex drill routines with a non-operational drill rifles.

Honor Guard Staff and members are required to meet and exceed uniform and grooming standards in any uniform combination during training, scheduled honor guard functions, and their respective squadrons. The Honor Guard is expected to live up to higher than normal standards due to the responsibilities we are charged which demand proper military conduct, respect and excellence. Hence our motto "Above the Rest".
